Detroit Coney Island Worker Charged in Customer Shooting  –  Deadline Detroit

A 45-year-old Motor City Coney Island worker on Detroit’s east side is charged in the shooting of a customer Sunday, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announces.


Engjull Thaqi of Macomb County is accused of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, felon in possession of a firerm and four counts of felony firearm violations.


Thaqi argued around 2:40 p.m. Sunday with Lorenzo Lyons, 23, of Detroit, and asked him to leave the restaurant at 831 E. McNichols Rd. Lyons soon returned and went to the rear parking lot of the restaurant. 


Authorities say that Thaqi shot at Lyons with a handgun several times, wounding him once in the leg.  Lyons was taken to a hospital and Thaql was arrested at the scene.


He was arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
