The Moroun family plans to hold a press conference at  9 a.m. Monday at the Michigan Central Station., and the message is likely to be that Ford has purchsed the hulk of a structure that was long a symbol of blight and Detroit’s decline, Kirk Pinho of Crain’s Detroit Business reports.

Monday’s media event is expected to be the first time the Morouns have publicly confirmed the sale to Ford, which plans to use the station as an anchor for its Corktown campus.

A spokesman for the Morouns declined comment to the Freep Sunday afternoon.

Crain’s first reported March 19 that Ford and the Morouns have been in discussions about selling the 505,000-square-foot station, which stopped rail service in 1988.
