DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Foundation Hotel has apologized after an organization that supports building the border wall accused staff of discriminating against its members for being supporters of President Donald Trump.
Jennifer Lawrence is the spokeswoman for We Build The Wall, a Florida-based nonprofit that’s holding an event in Detroit Thursday featuring former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, veteran Brian Kolfage and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach.
Lawrence says the hotel initially offered the group a discounted rate for booking more than 20 rooms. She says the hotel then withdrew the discount after the organization provided the names of its members who would be staying there.
The hotel says the rescinded discount was “unauthorized.” The hotel says it’s re-extended the discounted offer to the group.
Lawrence says the organization has booked accommodations at another hotel.
